Betting Strategies in Blackjack: The Point Count System

Have you heard of the point count system in betting strategies in blackjack? Do you think that you will be able to use this in playing against the odds?

If you've come across dozens of tips in what to use with your game of twenty-one (or blackjack), this may be a pleasant change of tactics. But, there are a few things to be learned. So, let's get started.

* The Basic Elements of This Tactic What is referred to the point count system in the betting strategies in blackjack is, basically, the Hi-Low gaming system.

What you need to understand with this is that when you choose to use this tactic, all you need to remind yourself to do is to place or assign numerical value (or point value) to each of the cards. This includes your cards, the dealer's, and the other players (if there are also other gamers involved in the game rather than just you and the dealer).

* The Point Values Point values are easy to learn. Just remember these things: +1 should be for cards from two (2) up to six (6); -1 is the point value used for each ace or face card; and 0 is for cards from numbers seven (7), eight (8), and nine (9).

* The Simple Procedure The way to use this is to look at the cards that the dealer (your main opponent) is giving or dealing to you. Also take note of the cards that the dealer is going to use. If there are other opponents on the gaming table, check their cards as well. Do this discreetly so as not to give signals or signs to the others that you are using this method.

Basically, when you observe and take note of the cards, and assign the appropriate point value to each (the positives or pluses, negatives or minuses, or the zeros), what you are doing is referred to as taking the "running count" into consideration as you play and make your bets.

When your running count has more plus values shown, your chance in winning against your main opponent (which is the dealer) is possible. In this situation, you can make your bet higher with the hopes that the next card would be ace or any face card.

Running counts having more minuses isn't that favorable. If you will choose to make a bet, better stick to a minimal amount of betting funds.

More zeros for running counts place you and your main opponent at a neutral gaming situation where the odds of winning are nil.

Using the high-low betting strategies in blackjack can give you a better winning edge on the game. But, as most tactics, it's a must that you practice this system first.
